BMF Membership Procedure:British Marine Federation

 

Upon receipt of the membership application form the following steps are taken before membership is granted:

 

 

  • The membership team at Marine House reviews the application. This includes checking the references and completing company and director checks.
  • As part of membership to the Federation the applicant is also placed with the most appropriate Regional & Group Association. Recommendation of the grade of membership is forwarded to the Regional & Group Association for review.
  • The applicant will be sent a copy of the BMF Rules incorporating the Code of Practice and will be required to sign a Declaration agreeing to the terms and conditions of membership as set out in these Rules.
  • The executive committees of the Regional & Group Association may arrange to visit the applicant.
  • If the applicant meets the required membership criteria, then once reviewed by the Regional & Group Association they will be welcomed into membership.
  • The Federation Council is notified on a quartley basis of all new members welcomed into BMF membership

 

 

Group Association Summary:
Canal Boatbuilders Association (CBA)

CBA strives to advance members’ interests within the marine industry. It encourages training at all levels and promotes members and their products to the public. It also provides a forum for members to put their views on industry matters.

 

 

Regional Associations:

 

BMF East Anglia – Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Essex

BMF Central – Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire, Hereford & Worcester, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands.

 

 

BMF Isle of Wight – Isle of Wight

 

 

BMF Kent & Sussex – Kent and the administrative County of Sussex, but excluding Thames-side local authority areas westward of and including Gravesend

 

 

BMF North – Northumberland, Durham, Yorkshire, Humberside, North Lincolnshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester & Merseyside.

 

 

BMF Scotland – Scotland

 

 

BMF South – Hampshire and the administrative county of West Sussex but excluding Bournemouth and Christchurch

 

 

BMF South West – Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Avon, West Dorset, the Isle of Scilly and the Channel Islands

 

 

BMF Wessex – Poole and district, including Christchurch and Weymouth

Thames Boating Trades Association (TBTA) – The Thames in Gloucestershire, and local and county authority areas down river to and including Gravesend and Tilbury
