The Canal Boatbuilders Association was formed in 1990, originally being part of the Midland Boating Industries Association, (which is now BMF Central). It was formed in order to facilitate a more professional image for the sector and to improve standards and service. The Association has grown from its original 27 BMF member companies to over 100 and has an enthusiastic committee led by Chairman Barry Smith, with members who are all leading experts within the Inland Waterways Sector. The aims of the CBA are: The promotion of the Inland Marine industry to the general public by supporting its own members Protection of the rights of the Association members businesses. Assisting the members businesses to improve sales and profits. Current CBA initiatives CBA include a Verification Scheme to ensure that all members meet the RCD requirements, offering assistance and advice if required and promoting the CBA to a wider audience. An exciting new initiative for 2007 has been the launch of the new CBA website at www.c-b-a.co.uk this site continues to grow and develop, giving advice and information to the buying public and providing a platform for members to promote their products and services.
