Canal Boatbuilders Association

The Technical Service provides BMF members with comprehensive information on all technical, regulatory and manufacturing issues relevant to the recreational boating and commercial craft industry.

The team represents the interests of the industry to key stakeholders including key Government departments such as the Department of Trade & Industry, the Department for Transport and Maritime and Coastguard Agency. The Technical Service is consulted on proposed new national legislative and relevant EU Directives. It is the focus of members input to UK, European & International Standards.

The Technical Service publishes a quarterly report detailing all matters of interest and guidance on new legislation, technology and standards. Areas of particular interest are Recreational Craft Directive, Maritime and Coastguard Agency Codes, the Boat Safety Scheme and guidance on Health & Safety Issues.
